Arrest Made in Kidnapping for Ransom Investigation,

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest in a kidnapping for ransom investigation.

On Friday, June 11, 2021, officers responded to a radio call for a kidnapping that occurred in the Faywood Boulevard and Wilson Avenue area.

It is alleged that:

- on Thursday, June 10, 2021, a man had been kidnapped and beaten with a firearm

- during the kidnapping, the suspects contacted the victims friends and demanded a ransom

- a quantity of cash was paid, and the victim was released

Members from the Central North District Major Crime Unit entered into an investigation.

On Wednesday, September 8, 2021, members of the Central North District Major Crime Unit, with the assistance of the Emergency Task Force, executed three Criminal Code Search Warrants in Toronto and York Region, locating and taking one suspect into custody.

During the search of the suspects residence, it is alleged officers located:

- a fully loaded Springfield Armory XD-9 (9mm) semi-automatic handgun with an over capacity magazine

- over 50 rounds of ammunition

- approximately $10,000 in cash

Jaye Tamodra, 25, of Richmond Hill was charged with:

1. Kidnapping for Ransom

2. Robbery with a Firearm

3. Forcible Confinement

4. Two counts of Extortion

5. Possession of a Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition

6. Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Firearm

7.Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized

8. Possession of a Prohibited Device

9. Possession of Proceeds of Crime

10. Possession of a Dangerous Weapon

11. Occupy Motor Vehicle with a Firearm

12. Possession of a Firearm Obtained by Crime

13. Two counts of Careless Storage/Use of a Firearm

He will attend court virtually at 1000 Finch Avenue West on Thursday, September 9, 2021, 10 a.m., in room 306.

Two suspects remain outstanding.
