The Toronto Police Service Hold-Up Squad would like to advise the public of an arrest made in a retail robbery investigation.

On Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at 6:33 p.m. officers responded a radio call for robbery in progress at Sheppard Avenue East and Don Mills area.

It is alleged:

- loud bangs and the sound of glass breaking could be heard inside a jewellery store inside a mall

- a man was breaking glass displays with a sledge hammer while employees were inside the store

- mall security attended and engaged with the man and he fled

- police arrived and a short foot pursuit took place

- police were able to apprehend the man and recover the stolen property of fourteen diamond rings

On Tuesday, January 4, 2022, Abdulla Abdul-Hussain, 20, of Toronto was arrested. He is charged with:

1. Robbery
2. Disguise with Intent
3. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000

He is to appear in court at 1000 Finch Avenue West on Wednesday, January 5, 2022.
