Arrests made in a Credit Card Fraud Investigation,
Firearm, cash and drugs seized

The Toronto Police Service Financial Crimes Unit would like to advise the public of arrests made in a credit card fraud investigation.

It is alleged:

- individuals using social media accounts under the alias of 'suprano_paris', were using stolen credit card data to purchase luxury goods at various well known retailers

- the luxury goods were then sold at discounted prices via the social media accounts

- the individuals also used the aliases of Dan Suprano and Paris Cavani

Police executed a search warrant and seized:

- a firearm with ammunition
- a Winchester air pistol
- over $221,000
- cocaine
- a large quantity of high-end clothing and watches

On Friday, November 26, 2021, Dan Kabuanga, 25, of Toronto, was arrested. He was charged with:

1. nine counts of Unauthorized Use of Credit Card Data
2. Possession of Identity Documents
3. Possession of Proceeds of Crime Over $5000
4. Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
5. Use/Handle/Store Firearm Carelessly
6. Use/Handle/Store Ammunition Carelessly
7. Possession of Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
8. Possession of Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
9. two counts of Possess Prohibited/Restricted Weapon or Prohibited Device – No Authority
10. Unlawfully Possess Schedule 1 Substance


On Friday, November 26, 2021, Daris Douceur Niyonkuru Ruta, 27, of Toronto, was arrested. He was charged with:

1. Possession of Proceeds of Crime Over $5000
2. Possess Counterfeit Mark
3. Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
4. Use/Handle/Store Firearm Carelessly
5. Use/Handle/Store Ammunition Carelessly
6. Possession of Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
7. Possession of Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
8. two counts of Possess Prohibited/Restricted Weapon or Prohibited Device – No Authority
9. Unlawfully Possess Schedule 1 Substance

They both appeared in court at Old City Hall.

Investigators would like to remind the public to be cautious when using credit cards to make online purchases and to only do so through trusted and secured websites.

Investigators would also like to caution the public from purchasing new luxury goods sold at discounted prices from sellers other than recognized retailers.
