Communications Services

Case #:

Every year, the second week of April is dedicated to 9-1-1 telecommunicators, the first of the first-responders in an emergency. This year, from Sunday, April 9, to Saturday, April 15, the week will be dedicated to honour and show appreciation for the life-saving communications services provided by police, fire, and paramedic service telecommunicators. Although they are not as visible as the men and women who arrive at the scene of emergencies, they are equally as important.

In September 2001, the inaugural Communicator of the Year Awards were held on-field, prior to a Blue Jay’s game at the Rogers Centre. Police, Fire and Paramedic Services all participated in the awards. This year’s awards will include Communicators from Ornge’s Operations Control Centre.

The awards will be held in the atrium at Toronto Fire and Toronto Paramedic Services Headquarters, 4330 Dufferin Street, on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, 10:30 a.m.
