The Toronto Police Service has made two arrests in a robbery investigation.

On Sunday, April 11, 2021, officers responded to a call for a retail store robbery in the Humber College Boulevard and Highway 27 area.

It is alleged that:

- two men approached the store while wearing hoods and masks, in an attempt to conceal their identity

- one man entered the store while the second man kept watch outside

- the man inside the store approached the checkout counter pretending to make a purchase

- the man pulled out a double barrelled sawed-off shotgun and made a demand for cash

- the man took a quantity of cash and cigarettes which he placed into a backpack, along with the shotgun, before exiting the store

- the two men then began to run away from the scene

- the shotgun accidentally discharged inside the backpack and struck one of the men in the leg causing serious injuries

- the man that was struck fell to the ground while the other man fled the scene on foot

Officers from 23 Division quickly responded and located the injured man nearby. He was taken to hospital.

It is further alleged:

- the man was in possession of a backpack containing stolen property and the shotgun

On Sunday, April 11, 2021, Cole Baumgart, 21, of Toronto was arrested.

He is facing the following seven charges:

1. Robbery with a Firearm
2. Disguise with Intent
3. Discharge Prohibited Firearm in Reckless Manner
4. Carry Firearm in Careless Manner
5. Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
6. Possession of Firearm Knowing it’s Possession is Unauthorized
7. Possession of Loaded Prohibited Firearm

He was scheduled to appear at court for a Bail Hearing on Monday, April 12, 2021, at 10 a.m., at Old City Hall Court, 60 Queen Street West, Room 103.

Members of the Toronto Police Hold Up Squad began an investigation and were able to identify the second man.

It is further alleged that:

- members of the Hold Up Squad conducted a search warrant and located the second man

-officers also located clothing worn during the robbery along with a quantity of illicit drugs

On Sunday, April 11, 2021, Brice Inwood, 26, of Toronto was arrested.

He is facing the following fifteen charges:

1. Robbery with a Firearm
2. Disguise with Intent
3. Discharge Prohibited Firearm in Reckless Manner
4. Carry Firearm in Careless Manner
5. Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
6. Possession of Firearm Knowing it’s Possession is Unauthorized
7. Possession of Loaded Prohibited Firearm
8. three counts of Possession of Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order
9. two counts of Possession Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
10. two counts of Possession of Schedule I Substance
11. Possession Schedule IV Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking

He was scheduled to appear at court for a Bail Hearing on Monday, April 12, 2021, at 10 a.m., at Old City Hall Court, 60 Queen Street West, Room 103.
