Two men arrested in retail robbery investigation,
Carlton Street and Church Street area

The Toronto Police Service's Hold Up Squad would like to make the public aware of two arrests made in a retail robbery investigation.

On Wednesday, May 26, 2021, officers responded to a call for a retail store robbery in the Carlton Street and Church Street area.

It is alleged that:

- two men entered the store and approached the employee

- a man produced a knife and made a demand for cash

- the employee ran to the back of the store while the man tried to open the cash register

- both men fled the scene empty-handed

Responding officers arrived quickly to the scene and were able to locate one of the men.


On Wednesday, May 26, 2021, Ryan Rowe, 26, of Toronto, was arrested.

He was charged with:

1. Robbery with Offensive Weapon
2. Carry Concealed Weapon
3. Weapons Dangerous
4. Fail to Comply with Probation

He was scheduled to appear in court at College Park, on Thursday, May 27, 2021, at 9:30 a.m., room 507.

Members of the Toronto Police Hold Up Squad continued with the investigation and were able to identify a second man.

On Sunday, June 6, 2021, Evens Itil, 27, of Toronto, was arrested.

He was charged with:

1. Robbery with Offensive Weapon
2. Carry Concealed Weapon
3. Weapons Dangerous
4. Fail to Comply with Probation

He was scheduled to appear in court virtually at College Park, on Monday, June 7, 2021, at 9:30 a.m., room 507.
