The Toronto Police Service would like to provide the public with an update on an assault with a weapon investigation.

On Sunday, July 4, 2021, at approximately 10:30 a.m., police responded to a call for a person with a knife in the Yonge Street and Sheppard Avenue East area.

It was reported that:

- a 37-year-old woman was walking on Doris Avenue (Yonge Street and Sheppard Avenue East area) when she passed the man who removed a knife from his pants

- the man began to chase the woman

- the woman was able to flag down a passing motorist for assistance

- the man was last seen walking towards Forrest Laneway

On Monday, July 5, 2021, with assistance from the the public, police arrested a man.

Dujaughn McKenzie, 24, of Toronto, has been charged with:

1. Carry Concealed Weapon
2. Assault with a Weapon
3. Weapons Dangerous
4. Criminal Harassment
5. Two counts of Fail to Comply Probation
6. Assault

He attended court virtually at 1000 Finch Avenue West on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at 10 a.m., in room 306.
