TPS Update: Deadline for Community Representative applications extended,
Missing and Missed Implementation Team
Broadcast time: 08:00

The Toronto Police Service and our partners in the LGBTQ2S+ community have extended the application deadline for community members wishing to apply to volunteer as Community Representatives on the Missing and Missed Implementation Team (MMIT). The new deadline to apply is July 16, 2021.
Although there was an overwhelming response to the initial invitation for applications, we understand there are community members interested in applying who were not aware of the opportunity and could not meet the June 25th deadline.
Justice Epstein was made aware of this and kindly offered us a one-month extension to the original deadline of June 30, 2021, for assembling the implementation team. We are grateful that Justice Epstein has offered us this extension, and we will use this additional time to interview a larger number of applicants than we had originally anticipated. We will also use this extension as an opportunity for additional community outreach in relation to this unique opportunity while ensuring a thoughtful and equitable selection process.
Given the above mentioned extension, Justice Epstein has also granted us a one-month extension for posting the completed Implementation Plan on the Service’s website or other suitable venue. The new deadline for completing and posting the Implementation Plan is October 30, 2021.
